Army Cadet Corps

The oldest and largest cadet unit in Ghana, supported by the Ghana Army since 1954.

Army Cadet Corps

The first cadet corps in Ghana was established in September 1954 at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi. Its purpose was to instil discipline and loyalty among students and to develop young people's interest in the Gold Coast Frontier Force — today's Ghana Armed Forces.

With the Army's support, cadet corps soon spread to leading schools such as Achimota School, Accra Academy, Prempeh College, Opoku Ware, Adisadel College, St. Augustine's College, Mfantsipim, Wesley Girls', Mawuli, St. Paul's Denu, Tamale Secondary and Navrongo SHS.
